review

I'd been looking forward to this for a while. As I took a final few drags on my ciggy outside I turned around to find the place absolutely heaving. No surprise really, they're a great band (and it looked tonight as if the whole world knew it) - but even fans were in for a surprise.

As I squeezed through the crowd, the lights went down, the roar went up and bang! They came straight in with "Decent Days and nights" quickly followed by "Skip to the end". I'm immediately taken back to 1978 (in a good way) and I'm really amazed at how brilliantly tight this band is on stage.

Though they've been going a few years now they're still sounding fresh and keen and the songs just seem to be getting better.

The Futureheads' new album "This is not the World" (released May 26th on NUL records and only available through www.thefutureheads.com) and judging by the reaction of the crowd tonight - it's a belter.
