The Marilyn Monroe Show is something different... and we all like different! It would have been a relatively straightforward task to have put together a reasonable show charting the life and times of Marilyn Monroe as we all know - but this musical gives us something much more than that.
With Marilyn portrayed as three distinct characters, we are led through her life through her own eyes - with some fairly startling revelations along the way.
Some gorgeous songs, and plenty of quick-fire scenes where years of her life are condensed into a few sentences make the show really lively and ultimately very entertaining. Performances from the cast were fabulous - they've all got voices and aren't afraid to use them!
It's a joy to watch anything at the Spiegeltent - so if you haven't ventured down there yet this year then this is your perfect excuse! If it's a crisp evening then don't forget your coat... this is essentially an outdoor venue.
Michael Dressers' "The Marilyn Monroe Show" is on from 19th - 25th May 2008 at the Parlure Spiegeltent, Brighton.
loved it!
...I thought it a refreshingly different view of Marilyn Monroe's life. It is cleverly written, with catchy songs. Performances from the cast were impressive and the voices a pleasure to listen to. The only downside was that the venue was a little chilly - but the show certainly made up for it. Well worth seeing and I wish it every success.
