Brighton Cares Chorus...
review What a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable evening this was. A complete 'wall of sound' provided by a large group of dashing gay men. Costume changes, choreography, humour and a great twist to a few of our favourite songs. This was a charity event, in aid of Brighton Cares and on the eve of World Aids Day. As a reviewer, I should be brutally honest - however, this is the start of the festive season, when my charitable side makes a brief, fleeting appearance - I can't be too picky! However...Unfortunately, the two Brighton guests - Rainbow Chorus and Hullabaloo - appeared to be a little out of their depth in such a large theatre (too far towards the proscenium doesn't help with sound). The only other slight gripe was that the speakers read off little scraps off paper - not really the thing for Brighton's grand ol' theatre, and not conducive to the polished performance of the main attraction. However, the London Gay Men's Chorus more than made up for that, with an entertaining and, at times, emotional repertoire of songs. Despite the 'pashmina' crowd taking a few swipes afterwards, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and 'Come What May' from Moulin Rouge got the goosebumps going - hurrah for starcloth. This marked the end of the LGMC tour for this year - keep an eye on their website for details of their tour dates some time next year.
