Tonight was the much anticipated (and slightly delayed as the place was hurriedly made presentable following a refit) opening of Brighton's very own, boutique-sized slice of London. If you spell kids with a 'z', if glitter is your foundation or if you just don't want to fit in anywhere else then you will, here.

The venue, recently taken over from Candy Bar but retaining some of the staff, has had a mini refurb (well done to the team of locals for turning it around so quickly!), twisting the bar around to create a bit more room, and putting a whole herd of Popstarzy stencilwork up on the walls to give that oh-so-now indie-goth-retro-grunge feel about the place!

The opening night was a chance to sample some of the DJs that will be on regular rotation down here - with nights like London's infamous Popstarz making a weekly appearance from this Friday onwards, and Wigout - a night of musical 'anything goes', stopping by on Saturdays. Mondays continue with alternative studenty night Shibby Shabblers, and we've got a helping of London's Miss-shapes on a Wednesday... amongst other things.

The fabulous DJ Sharon took the new club's deck virginity, I also saw DJ Wanker and A-Dam lurking in the shadows, and caught a glimpse of Shibby Shabblers' Darren... and Mr Tinker was there, having lent some of his bedroom lighting in support of the opening night, who promised me he's going to be sending me details of his Eurosomething night to be coming to the Ghetto on a monthly basis - more details to follow, obviously! Tommy had taken charge of the decks and the place was heaving with indieboys and girls as I retreated gracefully, before I fell over. Great night... I'm sure there'll be many, many more to come.
