Always one of the most eagerly anticipated parties of the year, the Wild Fruit Red Party 2009 was everything that we'd hoped it might be... doubled!
Oceana, across the road from Fruit's regular club Tru, was the £7 million venue for the night and proved a huge success. With seven rooms to choose from (we're not even sure we managed to make it into all of them), there was - as promised - something for everyone! As well as the fabulous main Red Room which bounced along beautifully all night long there was a Drama Drag Boudoir, a Bear's Log Cabin, a New York Disco Room... we lost count about half way through the night we were all having way too much fun.
Obviously the Red Party just wouldn't be the Red Party without some of the country's top DJs and acts to help it along! As well as superstar local talents like Dulcie Danger, Kate Wildblood, Queen Jo, Diablo, Jon Byrne and Neil Duffie, we were also treated to the likes of the Freemasons, Hi Fi Sean, Josh the Barber, DJ Charlie... and plenty more besides! We caught the incredible Beverley Knight performing live in the Red Room, we missed Boy George and Patsy Palmer (gutted!), caught Rowetta and Leon Lopez...
...the list goes on. The party was truly amazing. And perhaps equally amazing was that all acts and DJs gave up their time for nothing so that as much money as possible could be raised for HIV charities. To date, Wild Fruit has raised over £120,000 and counting.
The event was supported by local and national media including REALBrighton.com and the Real City Network (of course!), and Gscene Magazine, Gaydar, Juice Radio and Latest Homes.
loved it!
The Red Party was UTTERLY FABULOUS! Incredible glittering outfits, an amazing atmosphere, beautiful people, a great venue and incredible acts... what more could you possibly want? Roll on the next one, we will all certainly be back to shake our tail feathers! x x x
