Phew... what an evening. A rollercoaster of emotion and talent. Dave Lynn being his wonderful unpredictable self introduces Deah and Art from The Love Gods - a local band that's one to watch.

Deah is beautiful and her voice can make grown men cry... I know... I did. With a range of spellbinding original songs delivered with such precision and, yet, with a huge handful of humour. A sort of grown up and less, grumpy Alex Parks mixed with a dash of Bjork thrown in pulled the audience into her world of lullaby, love gone wrong and bitching about Pop Idol. Bittersweet, it certainly was, but intriguing to experience and with a comic timing that reigned it in from any threat of depression. Art could break hearts with just a strum from his guitar and threw himself into the spirit of things.

Dave Lynn, resplendent in canary yellow feathers and gold sequins, took us on a merry dance of laughter and tears and proved to us all what a trooper he really is.

When someone is so well known, and you are used to laughing with them, it is easy to forget that person is human with a personal life. To say Dave had had a bad day would be a huge understatement, but not wishing to disappoint, the show went on. Passion and pure emotion was bubbling just beneath the surface, allowing us a very rare and personal insight to the man behind the entertainer...

No-one can deliver a Bassey number with such grit, aplomb or feather-boa-shredding drama and Dave didn't disappoint.

This was a very strange evening on many levels, but for me it worked. To see Dave work with new and raw talent in an environment that is pleasant to experience is something that Brighton has lacked. Next one is on 30th March - I suggest you come along and see what you have been missing.
