It's been a few years since the REALBrighton cameras have found their way into the back rooms at Punktured, so when Carl mentioned that he was up for a piercing we grabbed the camera bag and headed for the door!
There are piercings, and there are piercings. Choosing the right studio to get your Prince Albert is obviously a decision not taken lightly. You need absolute trust if your'e going to let someone take a needle to your nether regions...
From the moment we arrived it was clear Carl was in very safe (well scrubbed, begloved) hands. A careful explanation of the procedure, the types of jewellery, the cleaning and healing process, the cost and any potential pitfalls were all discussed before any needle got anywhere near his manhood. With a scribble of a signature and a handshake we were in the inner sanctum of the Punktured studio and Carl was soon feeling right at home with his trousers around his ankles.
We counted at least five changes of gloves during the procedure - underlining the utmost commitment to hygine. Although the job wasn't in any way rushed, it was efficient and not unnecessarily prolonged! With a couple of deep breaths it was all over. Carl likened the experience to "those" tests up at the clinic... not much worse than a scratching sensation a couple of times over.
And so, with a smile on his face and a shiny new dangly bit - Carl was one very happy customer and we had some great photos! Big cheers to Carl and to Punktured for being willing to let REALBrighton in there with a camera!
