If you haven't stopped in at Charles Street over the last week or two then you won't have seen what's happened. It's undergone a dramatic refurb that has transformed the bar and ground floor into a plush, velvety experience - with a huge bed-like area at the back, sumptuous comfy couches, a new bar and a newly decorated area at the far end where the music is a bit lower so you can have a chat without shouting even on a Saturday night! Maaaarvellous!

As well as all that, there's new lighting and sound which makes it the perfect place for a spot of Sunday evening cabaret... and this evening's entertainment was "All Mouth & No Trousers" - comedy and song with those almost equally long-legged duo - Lady James and Connie Conway! They're a hoot as they chat their way through their act, and those radio mics mean that absolutely no-one is safe!

I think their rendition of "Don't Rain On My Parade" is worthy of particular mention in our little write-up and the song needs to go down in our unofficial guide to the Best Of Brighton Cabaret! The words are shared unequally between them as they tear around the bar playing "tag" to pass the song over to each other - resulting in pillow-fights, garbled lines and general hysteria. Very, very funny!
