Garden Gadabout 2010

The garden gadabout is a great idea. People open their private gardens to the public for a couple of quid, and all the money goes to the Sussex Beacon. Simples!
And if you think staring at someone else's blooms ain't your thing, it's not all about the flowers. Gardens are places to relax, enjoy the sun, hang out with mates and have fun.
On Saturday 25, I popped into one very special garden in Hartington Road. Not only were there homemade tea and cakes, but DJs Queen Josephine, Russell Ruckman, DJ Hollie and Kate Wildblood were creating a lazy, hazy, sunshine infused soundtrack of chill, lounge, disco, deep house and Latin grooves. Just how the flowers like it!

loved it!
What a fab review, thanks Alfie, and although I am a little biased as I work at The Sussex Beacon, this is a great event. I love it because it's such a wonderful example of how people are inspired to create a beautiful and personal space. Then they choose to share it, and generously do so to support The Sussex Beacon. It's a great event and a real tribute to the support a community can offer. And on top if all that, there's cake! This year we've had around 60 beautiful private gardens and community spaces all opening in aid of The Sussex Beacon. The gardens & spaces are amazing, each one unique, large, small, new and established, many transformed from almost nothing to gorgeous spaces. This week end on 3rd, The gardens at the Sussex Beacon in Bevendean Road are opening-so come and say hello. They'll be stalls run by our Women and Families service and a tombola, cream teas and plants to buy. This is our last Gadabout week end so your last chance to Gad! Check out which gardens are open in the brochure at www.gardengadabout.org.uk. And thank you to all,so much, for your support. Happy happy Gadding!
