Blu Cantrell...
review Concorde 2 was buzzing tonight with an audience that ranged from 14 year old girls to old school R'n'B fans, all waiting for a glimpse of stunning songstress Blu Cantrell who brought us last year's hit "Breathe".In true diva style Blu kept her audience waiting for nearly two hours, but the crowd didn’t mind as we were treated to a great support act: Rudebens & Monoxide Crew. They had the place rocking with their two DJs Kevlar & Harpo, vocalist Ickle C and MC Buzz. Truly amazing, they mixed-up old-school/ Motown samples with dancefloor favourites from disco queen Beyonce. Ickle C revealed she had a voice to die for as she sang soulfully over MC Buzz’s amazing raps. For more than two hours he had the crowd dancing happily and hyped up ready for the divine diva’s arrival. Blu entered with an apology for her lateness, but all was forgiven and forgotten when she announced that it was her birthday, and the crowd went wild with celebration for her. Complimented by two very young female dancers, Blu gave us a disappointingly short set, singing just four numbers before skipping off a mere twenty minutes after her arrival. As Blu left for what we thought was her break the audience waited in anticipation for her return, only to see the house lights go up and realise that the venue was closing. A diva's prerogative, we figured. It didn’t ruin the evening though because what a voice - that girl can sing. We eagerly await a full-length version of her show in the future.
