How can you beat it? 1,700 people of all ages, sexes, sexual orientations, shapes, sizes and, more importantly, in a wide range of states of undress... all thrown together in a big BIG room with a f*ck-off sound system, colour lasers, lights and pyrotechnics... all topped off with residents Duffie & Haywood being joined by Superstar DJ Norman Cook. Damn, this was one fine clubnight.

The Wild Fruit Easter party is deservedly one of the highlights of every Brighton clubber's year. With most people having a decent 4-day weekend, and without all the hassles of Christmas or the expectations of the summer, the atmosphere was phenomenal. Okay, so the queue to get in stretched to Newhaven and back, but seriously... when we say GET THERE EARLY, we mean it!

The theme, Footballer's Wives, was timed perfectly to coincide with the end of the TV series. There were footballers of all persuasions and bejeweled wives of undetermined sex in their droves. The decidedly frisky mood that overtook the crowd was, I'm guessing, due to the number of lads in football shorts rather than any Tanya lookie-likies spiking drinks with Viagra. I had to pick my tongue up off the floor on more than one occasion, let me tell you.

It's fair to say that the night would have been a sell-out success even without Fatboy Slim joining the party. I think it's also fair to say that it is what made the night unforgettable for the majority of the crowd. The problem will be how the bloody hell do they beat THAT next month?! I'm sure they'll give it their best...

Undoubtedly the best Wild Fruit I have been to (and I’ve been to one or two!). Undoubtedly the sexiest crowd at a Wild Fruit I have seen... there’s just something about boys in footy shorts isn’t there?! Undoubtedly the best music for ages... Cheers then Mr DJs; Undoubtedly too many “undoubtedly"s! If you weren’t there then more fool you!

Most people had to wait in the hour-long queue outside (maybe those of us that got our tickets in advance could be rewarded with queue jump next time?), just to find they had to wait for at least another 30 mins in the cloakroom queue (Hey Fruity Crew I beg you to open the downstairs cloakroom as well next time… pretty please!). But the incredible atmosphere meant you soon forgot all the queuing! The amazingly mixed crowd had the time of its life!

What a way to start the Summer Season of Wild Fruit parties!

If it all got a bit too claustrophobic on the main dancefloor, a little bit chilly in your shorts, or you felt a bit strange going a few laps round the balcony just to find your mates, there was the ever-so-funky RnB sesh in the Boudoir.

Situated at the back of Creation, the very friendly (and dare I say photogenic?) DJ's served up a delicious mix of hot & sweaty tracks to get us grinding our hips like a thing possessed. Possessed with what, I'm unsure, but it did seem to be catching. The whole place started to rival Dynamite Boogaloo for heat and humidity! And not a Dolly Rocket in sight...
