review

Margot's Party, somewhat of a cult theme event by all accounts, must attract one of the friendliest crowds in Brighton. Not having attended one before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I got there, but found that venturing just that bit deeper into Kemptown was well worth the effort!

The theme tonight was the French Revolution. Many of the gathered partygoers had really put the effort in. There were marauding groups of lush Moulin Rougesque ladies and a good handful of French tarts.

The Hanbury Ballroom itself is somewhat reminiscent of a good old Northern Working Men's Club (I kept half expecting the music to be switched off at any minute and to hear "Eyes down for a Full House"), but the place lends itself very well to this kind of event, and is an excellent venue for lots of other alternative nights.
