The ingredients were all there for yet another generous portion of fab clubbing: the clubbers, a mix of home-grown and the imported variety (tourists) were washed and ready to be thrown into the pot; the mixture of commercial chart hits and something a bit heavier for the more discerning palette was standing by in the DJ booths; the venue had been pre-heated by a couple of weeks of sun and the cake tin had been lined (well they have put a new lick of paint on the walls anyway!).
I was perhaps a bit disappointed to find that Revenge wasn’t as rammed as it usually gets on a Saturday night. Maybe I had been spoilt by the week before, when despite going head-to-head with Wild Fruit’s new ‘Underground’ night, Revenge was packed to the rafters and I had the most amazing night! But there was no competition from other major clubnights on this occasion. Maybe some people were getting an early night so they could take their Dad out the next day, or were they all warming up for the London to Brighton bike ride?
Although the music upstairs got a bit hard for my taste (Fusion's regular music maestro was absent), downstairs I trotted to click my heels up to some classic cheese and some friendly faces.
Revenge remains very much my favourite venue for a great night out and I've got no doubt that the place will be its usual self again next week.
