review

For weeks and weeks and weeks, we have been glued to the television watching the antics of the Big Brother house and it's strange mix of inhabitants.  The Channel Four team quite obviously got the troubleshooters in to select a recipe of housemates that could simmer and boil and eradicate the previous year's yawn-inducing experience.

Take a cramped setting, stick a couple of marital aids on the wall then add the following ingredients:- a pinch of camp, a large knob of pecks, a touch of homophobia, three level teaspoons of bimbo and a generous helping of transsexualism (one grown in Portugal is best) and give it a vigorous whisk.  Add some alcohol and leave to stew.

The results?  Bitching and backbiting, arguments galore and, it has to be said, very popular television.

...there's only so far you
can take the old adage,
"who looks at the mantle-
piece when you're pokin'
the fire".

So, on to Legends to catch the Big Brother Final.  Of the four contestants left, it was perhaps Shell that I could spend more than five minutes in a room with. Dan, I predict, is more likely to be filling in for Dear Deirdre that be snapped up for the glittering music career he seems so desperately to crave.  That much patronising outside of a British Airways aircraft isn't pleasant.  Then, of course, there is buffed buffoon, Jason - with an ego the size of a small country who really thought he was immensely attractive.  Nice muscles perhaps, but the face of a very angry pixie - there's only so far you can take the old addage, "who looks at the mantle-piece when you're pokin' the fire".  All three of these housemates got picked off.  Dan and Shell getting quite mild treatment from Davina and the BB replays - but apparently Jason hasn't been seen since...

And then, the winner. Nadia, Nadia, Nadia.  Legends erupted into a huge roar when our transgender heroine claimed her crown. Extremely entertaining, hilarious and at times very touching - here was pure woman. Adding the Ab Fab factor with a glamorous dress-sense that struggles to contain her proudesst assets - it was a great, if entirely expected, result. The evicted housemates had a mix of reactions, from horrified Victor to the gibbering wreck of Marco - I didn't envy the sound man's job of coping with such high frequency...

No, I couldn't spend too long listening to Nadia's laugh without wanting to reach for the remote control, but you can't help but be pleased for her.

Well done Legends for a great evening - you guys certainly know how to host a good party!
