Danceteria... the alternative Pride night party.

It was rather a troublesome start to the evening. We arrived at quarter to one and were told that we couldn't come in later than 12:30 due to the residential nature of the location - the door was then closed in our face. In the end the organiser had to bundle us around to the back door to get us in.

Once safely inside we could begin to enjoy the night. The main room reminded me a bit of a school disco... The DJ, from Manchester's Homoelectric, up on stage at the front of the room with the crowd wobbling around in the middle - obviously enjoying themselves.

The single bar with two bar staff struggled to keep everyone watered, but once I had got through the ensuing bun fight for that Red Stripe nectar the venue had a comfortable enough capacity to amble around and make new friends.

The music was a danceable mix from old skool Neneh Cherry to bang up-to-the-minute Franz Ferdinand.

A very welcome alternative to the usual sweatfest post-pride merriments.
