Dragball!...
review London's Legendary Drag Ball hit the Bulldog in a big way... if the glitter on the carpet on Sunday morning was anything to go by then it was one hellova party.Twelve contestants - every one a star - made their way onto the crowded stage area at the Bulldog to strut their stuff and to answer a few of Dale's probing questions. ("Did you do your make-up yourself? No? Well you should have!") There was laughter, there were tears, there were sequins and stockings, high heels and basques... there was an air of something quite unusual taking place halfway up St James Street. The Bulldog might not be the first place you'd associate with an event like this, but the loyal punters, the rediculously cheap pints (let's just squeeze one more round in before we go...), and the up-for-it staff who all made a great effort... made for a fabulous night of glitz and glam. With a £100 cash prize and a big bouquet being presented to the winner, and with all the night raising money for the Sussex Beacon... what more reason could anyone need to don a pair of heels and step onto the stage? But there's a twist in this tale... The winner, and I'll leave you to discover who it was yourself in the photographs, stood out from the competitors in more ways than one (one more way, anyway!). The cheer that went up was deafening and relentless... You couldn't ask for a more supportive crowd than the Bulldog boys and gals.
