Scarey Hairy Mary's...
review
The moon is up and the sun is down and a thousand starry eyes can see me... so said someone from the Kid's From Fame once.
And so it was on Halloween that we ventured into the night to discover a darker and more haunting world.
Eyes and faces of those who are seemingly banished from the daylight hours, live an existence in permanent twilight with less that pure thoughts. Groans and grunts of communication with the occasional bloodcurdling scream of laughter...
Okay, I'm making it up - however, the bully was dressed to the nines, even if some of the punters didn't need to make too much of an effort.
Catching Maisie without her make-up on Halloween night must have been the scoop of the night....
and there's more...

Things that go Bump in the Night
There's nowhere more frightening to be than wandering the bars and pubs over Halloween Weekend... REALBrighton reporters roamed the city to bring you their pick of the freakiest freaks. And a few boys in pants as well, of course.

You are feeling very sleeeeeepy
photos by David Beales
A Halloween extravaganza, and undoubtedly one of the most original shows I have ever seen. The incredible Mat Trix stunned the crowd with feats of hypnosis, some funny, and some just plain freaky, but all brilliantly entertaining..

A twilight world is discovered as we venture into the night to a darker, more haunting world at the Bulldog... the place was dressed to the nines.

As the witching hour drew closer, we parked our broomsticks for a quick dip into the QA's cauldron.

Rocky Horror Joogle

What is it about fancy dress that compells all the straight guys to squish themselves into inappropriate frocks and high heels...? Frock-horror campery all round...

Frightfully Proud in Revenge
photos by James Brooks
I suppose it was rather predictable that instead of someone who had spent weeks at a sewing machine and hours in front of the make-up mirror winning, it would be the cute boy in the rather fetching tight pants that would scoop the fancy dress prize.

The Amstardamned
photos by Sam Milford
With the decorations up, the costumes chosen, the make-up on and with Chris (at least I think it was him) at DJing from his virtual decks (I was itching to have a go), Halloween at the Amsterdam was a fine night.

Vavoom Vamps

...meanwhile, in that iddabiddybar by the side of Revenge, there were strange things afoot. And by the way did you know they've opened a new TV lounge downstairs?!

Freaks at the Tavern!

The Tavern can be hard to ignore at the best of times, but give them something to celebrate and you'll be lucky to squeeze through the door to join the party!

Witches, Wizards and things that go bump in the night... It's off to the country, we sang, as we headed north along the A23 to The Fountain in Handcross.
