It was cold, wet, windy and grey... hardly the most inviting of mornings to be setting out on a 13 mile run... but a record 3,122 people rose to the challenge in what was Brighton's biggest half marathon on record! view

The Beacon volunteers had been up and about since the very small hours of the morning making sure the event went without a hitch. We were there but an hour or two before the event and our hands were already freezing... big big congratulations to all the support workers for putting up with the icy wind and rain and helping make the event another huge success! view

With the wind howling around our ears, the 2006 Sussex Beacon Half Marathon gets underway. The staggered start seemed to work very well, with every runner wearing a chip on their show so that timings were correct no matter how long it took you to cross the start line (within reason!) view
