The sun’s setting outside my office window, Kate Bush is doing Elvis proud and I’m writing far too many words about far too many trance dj’s for thing I like to call my day job. But it’s my night shifts that’s making me grin as we dj’s get online to say farewell to our sundae summer. Yep that’s me. Danger and Jones in the queue at Screws R Us, Pansy Heaven and trying to get tix for the flix now we have nowt to do on a Sunday afternoon. Asda ain’t the same on a Monday morning without a hangover but hell we’ll manage. But will we? Honestly? See I reckon we’re missing you. Yes the Wild Fruit and Audio crews make the most pleasant of work colleagues but it’s the Sundae dancefloor that keeps my soul shiniest with it smiling punters. Forget you lot feeling loved up, how do think we feel when we drop that tune, when the roar is huge and the affection heading our way even bigger? Okay it’s a ‘clubbing’ thing and no we clubbers and dj’s don’t always feel quite that ‘happy’ but fuck it I love it and right now as the winter looms I miss it.
But then as long as the false tan lasts and the pecs remain firm you’ll be there for us dj’s even if it only once a month. And with Danger, Fuller, Haywood and Duffie doing the business at Cash Queen and Fruit in the mean time summer is just a beat or two away. As a handsome boy said to me a few weeks back “you bring us so much joy!" Yes you Sunday Sundae!
